OCS - Ltd are contracted by Birmingham Airport to provide assistance to persons with reduced mobility. There is no charge for this service.
How to get assistance
Wheelchair or Special Assistance - If you require wheelchair or special assistance for any part of your journey from arrival at the airport through to the aircraft or on your return journey, OCS staff will be happy to help. To arrange this please contact your airline or tour operator at least 48 hours before departure/arrival advising the type of assistance required. Check-in Concourse 1-82 to Departure Lounge - 10 minutes
Departure Lounge to Gates 46-68 - 10 minutes maximum
Check-in Concourse 100-130 to Departure Lounge - 5 minutes
Check-in Concourse 100-130 to Check-in Concourse 1-82 - 10 minutes
Equipment used by OCS includes People Movers (to and from gates 40-55), Standard Wheelchairs, Heavy Duty Wheelchairs, Self Propelled Wheelchairs, Child's Wheelchair, Leg Extension Kits, Aircraft Aisle Chairs and Paging Devices.
For the Deaf
There are staff who can use sign language and these can be contacted from the Special Assistance Reception Desk. Induction Loop System - these and mini-loop systems are installed in various locations around the terminals.
Car Parking for Disabled Passengers
Spaces are available in the Drop & Go area which is close to the terminal building (see car park map). Blue Badge holders are entitled to up to 60 minutes free parking within the Drop & Go area upon production of their Blue Badge and car parking ticket at the NCP Customer Services desk within the terminal building. Normal charges apply if the 60 minutes is exceeded. Parking spaces are also available at multi-storey and long-stay surface car parks. Should you require assistance, help points are situated close to the disabled parking areas. Please note that car parking is charged at the normal rates. For security reasons, disabled drivers are advised that the Blue Badge scheme does not operate within the airport.
Assistance Dogs
Birmingham Airport accept registered assistance dogs if travelling on approved airlines and routes. Please contact the OCS helpdesk if assistance is required.
No dogs are allowed in the terminal buildings unless assistance dogs or are transiting onto an aircraft.
