With a colourful history dating back over 800 years, Hanover, is now the capital of Lower Saxony, and a major international destination for trade fairs.
Situated on the banks of the Leine River, Hanover is a relatively small city, which was largely destroyed during the Second World War. It has now been rebuilt but lacks the political force or obvious tourist appeal of many other German cities. Most visitors to Hanover come for the trade fairs, for which Hanover has fantastic facilities, with conference centres, exhibition halls and all the facilities you could want for.
