The Causeway Coast, to the east of Derry boasts three of Nothern Ireland's top tourist attractions. Perhaps the most famous is the Giant's Causeway - beautiful hexagonal basalt columns, stretching into the sea. Local legend has it that the giant Finn MacCool laid them! The second attraction will test your nerves, Carrick-a-rede rope bridge is suspended 80 feet above the sea, and provides an exciting excursion. The third major attraction here is the Old Bushmills Distillery. As the oldest legal distillery in the world, it's the perfect place to pick up some souvenirs to take home with you!
From Derry, the north coast of Ireland is also easily accessible. The area is steeped in history, and there are castles to explore in Buncara, which also boasts two safe sandy beaches. Worth a visit is Malin Head, from where there are spectacular views over the Atlantic. Away from the coast, there is the whole of Donegal to explore, with the stunning natural beauty of the mountains of the Glenveagh National Park.
