The Birmingham Airport Community Trust Fund was established in 1998 as part of a Section 106 Planning Agreement with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. Each year, we invest £50,000 and the Fund is the ‘topped up’ by any penalties imposed on airlines who breach our strict Night Flying Policy.
However, we do not decide where the money is spent. This is the job of the nine independent Trustees, nominated by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, Birmingham City Council, The Airport Consultative Committee and the Airport Company board. The Trustees use their local knowledge to ensure grants are awarded where they will have the greatest impact. Awards of up to £3,000 are available for projects that meet the Fund criteria.
