At Birmingham Airport we operate a continuous Air Quality Monitoring Station for a suite of air quality pollutants, which are monitored against the UK Government’s Air Quality Strategy standards.

Landscape & Ecology

The Airport site covers a total area of 330 hectares and is located adjacent to rural areas and close to residential communities. At Birmingham Airport, we take seriously our environmental responsibilities and operate a set of programmes to preserve the natural environment.

Surface Water Quality

Three local brooks run through the airport site. At Birmingham Airport, we have a responsibility to ensure the water quality is protected from any pollution associated with our activities.

For a site as large and complex as Birmingham Airport, the creation of waste is inevitable. However, we take active measures to reduce the amount of waste produced. Where possible waste material is re-used or recycled.
