- 1995 – Airport Company publishes an Airport Master Plan “Vision 2005” with a plan period to 2005.
- 1995 – Airport Company submits an Outline Planning Application for the expansion of the passenger terminal facilities and related infrastructure to the Local Planning Authority, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
- 1996 – Outline Planning Permission granted, subject to an extensive number of Planning Conditions and a Section 106 Planning Agreement.
- 2000 – Airport Company publishes first Airport Surface Access Strategy.
- 2003 – Airport Company submits a Planning Application to extend the life of the Outline Planning Permission until 2008.
- 2004 – Planning Permission granted subject to amendment of the S106 Agreement.
- 2008 – Planning Application to extend the existing runway and associated infrastructure works submitted to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
- 2009 – Planning Permission granted subject to a Section 106 Planning Agreement.
- 2009 – Planning Application to develop a hotel and car park at the Elmdon Terminal Site submitted to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
- 2010 – Planning Permission granted subject to conditions.
