What did you do prior to joining Birmingham Airport?
I was an Equestrian Event Groom.
What attracted you to the role?
I felt the time was right to try something new.
Tell us about your training?
I have to take part and pass yearly training in line with standards set by the Department for Transport.
So what’s a typical day for you then?
No day is ever the same I could be patrolling, processing passengers or searching a passenger’s bag.
What advice would you give for potential new recruits?
Be flexible and be prepared for a very active day.
So what do you like best about your job?
I like meeting new people and I like the fact the everyday is different.
And what qualities are the most beneficial?
The main one that springs to mind is customer service.
Are there opportunities to develop in your career?
Yes you can progress if you wish.
What would you say to someone thinking about joining BHX?
It’s an exciting job and every day is different.
