What time is the Airport open?

The Airport is open 24 hours, 365 days a year. Selected retail and catering units are also open 24/7, while others will remain open only when flights are arriving or departing.

 

What time should I arrive at the Airport to check-in?

We recommend arriving at the Airport at least 90 minutes before your departure time. Some airlines will request you check-in earlier, so please contact your airline directly too.

 

Where do I check-in for my flight?

You can check-in online or when you arrive at the Airport. Please note airline check-in desks do not have a fixed location and are subject to change.

Does the Airport offer any work experience?

Unfortunately, due to operational circumstances and because of current resource issues, we are not accepting any further applications for work experience for the foreseeable future. 

 

Are there business lounge facilities?

There are four business lounges at Birmingham Airport, each offering a range of facilities, food and drink.

Aspire Lounge by Servisair is located within the Departure Lounge, next to our World Duty Free store. Available to all passengers.

Emirates has a dedicated business lounge, located in the North Pier of the terminal and is available to Emirates Business Class passengers only. 

No1 Lounge is located behind Next within the Departure Lounge and is available to all passengers.

Regus Express is located in The Comet Building on the ground floor, next to the terminal building.

 

What religious facilities are available at the Airport?

There is a multi-faith prayer room located before Security within the terminal, which is used with mutual respect by people of all faiths and none.

 

Where can I smoke at the Airport?

The terminal building is a smoke-free zone (including e-cigarettes). For those wishing to smoke, there are designated covered areas outside the terminal building. There is also an outside balcony smoking facility, which can be accessed via The Meriden Bar & Restaurant, located within the Departure Lounge.

 

Is there a luggage storage facility at the Airport?

Luggage Point provide a safe and secure place to leave your baggage or equipment at Birmingham Airport. Valuables can be stored for up to 90 days and prices vary depending upon the size of the item(s) being left.

 

I am a foreign national/student. How do I claim a VAT refund?

Tax refunds are processed by HM Revenue & Customs. Please contact HMRC directly by calling their dedicated helpline: 0845 010 9000 or by visiting the HMRC website.

 

Can I visit the Airport to view aircraft even if I’m not travelling?

Birmingham Airport offers a free aircraft viewing area, whether you follow aircraft arrivals and departures keenly, want a family day out for the kids to see aircraft up close or just want to come and observe the comings and goings on the airfield.
