Skateboards are permitted through Security in hand luggage, but you will need to check with your airline for any restrictions they have in place. These items are not permitted to be used whilst in the Airport.
Due to the lithium batteries in segways or hoverboards, most airlines do not permit the carriage of these either in hand luggage or checked in luggage - please check with your airline or travel operator regarding their restrictions on travelling with these items.
Please note, due to the danger of possible ignition - these items are not permitted to be held by Luggage Point, the lost property facility.

The Airport is open 24 hours, 365 days a year. Selected retail and catering units are also open 24/7, while others will remain open only when flights are arriving or departing.
Birmingham Airport operates a single terminal for all arriving and departing flights.
Generally, check-in for long haul flights (flights between 6-12 hours) will open approximately 4 hours before departure. For short haul services (flights between less than 6 hours), desks will normally open at around 2 to 3 hours before departure. Please check with your airline directly if you wish to confirm precise check-in opening times. Travellers must ensure they allow ample time for the check-in, security and boarding process and keep a close eye on flight information screens throughout the airport for flight updates and boarding times.

Check-inCheck-in desks are subject to change so it is not practical to advise them in advance. Sign posts outside the terminal building direct passengers to check-in via Zones A, B, C or D depending on your airline. Check-in desk numbers are displayed on the information screens within the building too. All check in desks are located on the ground floor.
There are also several automated check-in kiosks available. If you’ve checked in online and have a boarding pass, all you need to do is drop your hold bag off (if you have one) at the relevant airline check-in 'bag-drop' area.
If you have oversize or extra luggage that you haven’t already paid for online, you can present these to the airline agent at the check-in desk for assistance.

Please ensure that you allow ample time for both the security and boarding process. In addition, keep a close eye on the information screens throughout the airport for flight updates and boarding times.
Baggage allowance and sizing limits vary from airline to airline. Ideally oversized and extra luggage should be booked (and any appropriate fees paid) directly with the airline before arriving at the airport.

With regard to car parking charges, the Premium Set Down car park is specifically designated for dropping off passengers. If you parked here when picking up passengers and were longer than anticipated please be aware that we do not offer refunds.
