Arriving at Toronto Pearson International (YYZ)

There are currently no direct flights to Toronto, so you’ll need to connect through a major hub including, but not limited to, Dublin, Paris or Frankfurt, before continuing on to Toronto.

Toronto Pearson International Airport is the main airport for Toronto and has two terminals.

Taxi's can be picked up easily at the designated taxi ranks on the Arrivals level of both terminals. The ranks can be accessed by Door D in T1 and Doors D, E, and F in T2.

Toronto Pearson is directly connected to downtown Toronto via the UP Express airport rail link which takes just 25 minutes. The UP Express station at Pearson International Airport is located within Terminal 1, directly adjacent to the Terminal Link Train station. Trains depart from the airport every 15 minutes and operate seven days a week.

What to Expect in Toronto

Downtown Toronto is compact and, like many other North American cities, has a grid-like structure, so is fairly easy to navigate on foot. For trips further afield, Toronto's transport system (known as the TTC) features subways, streetcars and trams, and is affordable and convenient. Weekly and daily passes that offer unlimited trips across the TTC may be the best value for your trip and can be purchased online or at subway stations.

Tipping for any service is the norm in Toronto and it's very rare to not tip unless the service was exceptionally poor. Customary tips for standard service are typically 15% to 20% of the pre-tax bill with tips for exemplary service being even higher.

One of the top attractions in the city is the Royal Ontario Museum, Canada's leading museum which is home to an internationally renowned collection of artifacts, art pieces and specimens. For the best panoramic views of 'The 6 ', you can climb to the top of the 1,815-foot-tall, CN Tower, an iconic feature of Toronto's skyline. A stroll around the downtown's trendy Distillery District has also become a staple of many visitor's trip itineraries with independent coffee shops, boutique gift shops and quaint industrial charm galore.

Barrie Located an hour and a half drive away from Toronto, the nearby city of Barrie is a perfect pick for active adventurers with incredible hiking routes, nearly 200km of biking trails and a variety of watersport rentals on the waterfront of Lake Simcoe.

Buffalo The US city of Buffalo is easily reached from Toronto and is home to many popular cultural attractions including Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site, Buffalo City Hall and Burchfield Penney Art Center.
