Birmingham Airport (BHX) passenger volumes reached 1,487,899 in July, making it the airport’s busiest July to date and 2% up on last July’s record.

The increase comes as the school holidays get underway, with families heading out for their well-earned breaks and holidaymakers looking to make the most of their summer.

The most travelled destinations in July were led by Dublin, with passengers heading to the Irish capital for business, leisure and family visits. Palma, Alicante and Malaga also featured among the month’s top routes for passengers wanting to enjoy some Mediterranean sun and culture.

Low‑cost traffic saw the biggest growth, with 11% more passengers using these services compared with July 2025, demonstrating the region’s desire for more affordable travel.

July also saw celebrations elsewhere in the terminal with the opening of two brand-new Aspire Lounges, the celebration of easyJet’s 10 millionth passenger through BHX and a successful initiative showing care-experienced young adults the behind-the-scenes view of the airport to gain insight into potential career opportunities.

Matt Hazelwood, Chief Commercial Officer of Birmingham Airport, said: “July has been another fantastic month for us. Welcoming more than 1.4 million passengers and setting a fourth consecutive record month of passengers is an incredible achievement and shows how many people across the region are choosing to fly from Birmingham for their summer trips.

“We’re constantly exploring opportunities to give our passengers a better experience and more choice, so it’s great to see new destinations appearing on our departure boards and continued improvements across the terminal to help make journeys easier and more enjoyable for everyone travelling through the airport.”

With the peak summer season well underway and further route launches scheduled for later this year, BHX expects passenger volumes to continue their upward trajectory.
