Colleagues from Birmingham Airport (BHX) have given back to their local community this Christmas with their most successful charity gift drive campaign ever. The airport’s annual ‘Bringing Joy to Our Journey’ initiative saw colleagues and partners donate over 1,000 gifts to local charities over the festive period, exceeding previous donation milestones.
Colleagues from Birmingham Airport, Jet2 and Hilton Garden Inn participated in the campaign by selecting tags from Christmas trees located throughout the airport, each containing a specific 'wish' from one of the seven partnered charities. These Christmas wishes could be anything from kid's toys and toiletries to dog beds, ensuring a wide array of support for the community.
This year, the airport supported the following local charities:
St Basil’s – Supporting young people aged 16–25 who are homeless or at risk
Birmingham Dogs Home – Caring for stray, abandoned, and relinquished dogs
Cats Protection – dedicated to rescuing, rehoming, neutering, and educating the public about cat care.
Rayner House – Residential care home for the elderly in Solihull
Solihull Children’s Services – supporting children in need ages 0-17, many have experienced difficult or traumatic childhoods and may be spending the holiday period away from their families
Toys4 Birmingham - provides vulnerable children and young people with toys
Help Harry Help Others – supports patients and families affected by cancer including financial assistance, counselling and group sessions
As part of the campaign, staff from Birmingham Airport visited some of the local charities to deliver gifts and learn more about the difference that such donations can make to those in need at Christmas. During a visit to Rayner House care home, one colleague from Birmingham Airport provided a special musical performance for residents to offer some festive joy.
“We’re delighted to share the success of our Bringing Joy to Our Journey campaign which has seen our colleagues and partners come together to give back to local charities over the festive period. Christmas can be a difficult time for many, so it’s been incredible to see such generosity from our airport community towards those in need with over 1,000 gifts being donated – a record amount. Thank you to all of our colleagues who have supported the initiative, as well as Jet2 and Hilton Garden Inn for their participation and generosity.” Bir
