Birmingham Airport (BHX) is hosting its first ever Race the Plane charity event in support of its nominated charity partner, Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.
Taking place on Wednesday 18th March 2026, the regional airport is inviting businesses from across the region to participate in the high-energy challenge event which will see teams compete in racing against a real flight from Birmingham to Cancun on 25-watt bikes.
Businesses can participate in the event by sponsoring a bike and building a team of up to 20 people to join the race. Participants will then cycle in different intervals throughout the day to race the plane and compete against other teams. The exhilarating event will feature special guests, live music and fundraising challenges. Awards will be presented for the best team, fastest individual and top fundraising team. Smaller teams and individual spaces are also available for the event.
Participating teams are asked to raise a minimum of £2,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity which helps provide vital care for young patients across the region and beyond. Located in Birmingham city centre, the hospital is a leading UK specialist paediatric centre and offers expert care to over 100,000 children and young people every year.
