Birmingham Airport (BHX) has reported its busiest November ever amidst a record-breaking year for passenger volume. 883,056 passengers travelled through the airport in November 2025 – a 5.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

The figure, which is the ninth record month for the transport hub this year, positions BHX firmly on track to experience its busiest year ever with 14 million passengers forecast to travel through during 2025/26. Top routes in November included sunshine spots such as Alicante, Malaga and Lanzarote.

As a result of this uptick in passenger volume, the airport is also reporting its busiest year ever for assisted travel customers. Last week, Birmingham Airport marked International Day of Persons with Disabilities by outlining key investments to improve the critical service which supports passengers with additional needs and disabilities through the airport. Over £3.8 million has been invested this year already with significant developments including a fleet of new purpose-built ambulifts to aid airside transportation and specialised neurodivergent training for airport staff.

With its most ambitious capital investment plan ever underway, Birmingham Airport has appointed global built environmental consultancy, Arup, to lead the development of a 15-year Masterplan to ensure growth and transformation is sustained across decades to come. The Masterplan will define how the airport will evolve to serve an increasing number of passengers and airlines while focusing on sustainability, operational efficiency, and an enhanced passenger experience. Work has already begun with key airport stakeholders, with a draft Masterplan expected to be unveiled for public consultation in summer 2026.

Al Titterington, Terminal Operations Director of Birmingham Airport said: “We’re delighted to have kickstarted the winter travel season with yet another record month in November for passenger volume with more customers choosing to travel through Birmingham Airport. This marks our ninth record-breaking month this year – a remarkable achievement that is indicative of the choice and convenience offered by our ever-growing route network supported by partner airlines. As we continue to experience this significant period of growth, our focus, of course, remains on enhancing and improving our facilities to ensure we are continuing to provide a seamless travel experience for all passengers. From new airside facilities to advanced tech integrations that will aid the customer journey, we are continuing to deliver our largest investment plan ever which will ensure we have an airport that is truly fit for the future.”
