easyJet has launched its first flights from Birmingham Airport to the heart of the Austrian Alps, Innsbruck.

The first flight from Birmingham to Innsbruck took off yesterday morning and will now operate every Sunday until the end of March, providing a new convenient connection for those in the Midlands seeking a sensational ski or snowboard holiday to some of Austria’s world-famous resorts.

This includes St Anton, the birthplace of modern alpine skiing, which is only one hour away from Innsbruck. The iconic Bergisel, ski jump, designed by reknowned Iraqi-British world-class architect Zaha Hadid, sits proudly overlooking Innsbruck, making this winter-Olympic ski destination a highly popular choice for winter-sport enthusiasts.

Nestled in the snowy mountain landscape, Innsbruck is packed full of adventures for the non-skier too, with a charming old town, home to the sparkling Swarovski crystal company, and an imposing imperial palace from the former Habsburg dynasty that cannot be missed.

Great value seats are still available to book from just £14.99* on easyJet.com and via the mobile app.

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said:
