Monarch, a leading low cost airline and holiday company, today celebrated the launch to two new routes from Birmingham Airport to Porto in Portugal and Stockholm in Sweden.
Monarch is the only airline to fly to the Swedish capital from Birmingham and Porto is the fourth destination in Portugal joining Faro, Lisbon and Madeira on the network.
The airline will fly to both destinations three times a week. To Stockholm on a Thursday, Friday and Sunday and to Porto on a Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
Cabin crew were on hand to help with the celebrations and were joined at check-in by Monarch’s Head of Network Development Marjan Schoeke and Paul Kehoe, Birmingham Airport’s Chief Executive Officer.
Marjan Schoeke said: “We are delighted to add two new routes to our Birmingham programme. We are the only UK airline to fly direct to Stockholm from Birmingham Airport and now our customers have two new city break destinations to choose from when flying out of Birmingham Airport with Monarch.
“As well as these two new city break routes, Monarch will be launching four more new destinations from Birmingham for summer 2017. Flights and holidays to Valencia, Split, Rhodes and Naples begin in June.”
Paul Kehoe said: “Monarch has a fantastic selection of popular routes from Birmingham Airport and we are certain the additions of Stockholm and Porto to this network will be excellent news for our passengers.
“Both cities offer something for everyone being vibrant and fascinating with beautiful architecture, stunning scenery, great nightlife and restaurants and local warmth and hospitality.”
Monarch will operate flights to Porto from Birmingham Airport three times a week with fares, including taxes, starting from £39 one way (£67 return). Three night city break holidays start from £129per person.
Monarch will be the only airline operating flights to Stockholm from Birmingham Airport three times a week with fares, including taxes, starting from £35 one way (£59 return.)
